For the first time, Netflix may bring its video game service to TV, and allow you to use your iPhone as a controller. This is according to Twitter user Steve Moser, who said he discovered a ‘hidden’ code in the streaming service’s iOS app.
“Netflix wants to make games playable on every device by turning your iPhone into a controller for Netflix running on a TV. Code hidden in their iOS app: “A game on your TV needs a controller to play. Do you want to use this phone as a game controller?” tweeted Moser, an app developer whose Twitter profile identifies him as a Contributing Writer with MacRumours.com.
At present, Netflix gaming service is available on smartphones and tablets.
Has Netflix said anything?
Netflix is yet to confirm or deny the news. It has, however, previously admitted it would like to bring games to more devices. At least two websites – TechCrunch and New York Post – reached out to the company for a statement. However, it refused to comment.
What are Netflix ‘secret codes’?
These are numbers viewers must enter into the search bar to access specific categories that cannot be found through traditional ways. The codes discovered by Moser are not, in any way, a guarantee that Netflix will bring games to TV sets.
